BEGIN WHILE OTHERS ARE MAKING EXCUSES

BEGIN WHILE OTHERS ARE MAKING EXCUSES

Over the years, I've come to accept that I was born to procastinate. No matter how much I want to avoid it or try to buckle up and get things done at the right time, I always see myself procastinating. Whenever there's something that needs to be done; be it big or small, important or irrelevant, I always find a way to tell myself that it will be done later. For instance, I'll never see the need to get my clothes ready in time for church. It is always at the dying minutes that I will try to iron and get ready for church and most times, it might be too late because there might be no light.

Procastination has all these years been the mother of most if not all the failures in life. We always tend to wait for the right time to do things and at the end of the day, we end up not achieving anything and we always put the blame on one thing other, forgetting that every time is the right time provided you are doing the right thing and you're prepared before time. Many a times it has been said that when an opportunity meets preparation, there is bound to be a success.

Stop procastinating and making excuses why you are not yet married or get your dream job or start up that dream business of yours or perhaps building your dream house. The more you keep on making excuses, the more time elapses and the more you deprive not only yourself but others who directly and indirectly depend on you for a better life.

I was once a chronic procastinator. 25 years old and I was still squatting with a friend and his family that live in a one bedroom apartment. This means that I always slept in their parlour and I had no privacy unless when everyone is asleep but guess what? I didn't complain nor did I even for a day try to make attempt to look for my own apartment. I was quite comfortable where I was and I had every reason to give excuse.  All that changed when I saw a young boy who had one of his legs amputated, Hawking in the street. It changed my mindset and made me to understand that no excuse is reasonable enough to justify failure. A little hustle won't kill you rather it gets you an extra step closer to your home of success.

Excuses can never get you anywhere, it will only end up delaying your progress. Stop blaming people or situations for your failure. Take responsibility of your weakness and take charge of your life. Do not use the fact that the first step is the hardest step and decide not to take any step at all. If Abraham Lincoln had procastinated or used his past failures as a yardstick not to forge ahead, he would never had become the president of the United States of America.

It might not be that easy to start but you have to try anyway. It might not be easy but it is definitely worth it. Begin now while others are giving excuses and I bet you, you might be that inspirational story someone is waiting to hear.
